Who am I?
Currently pursuing the Bachelor of Music in Composition and Music Education at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, Alex Fan is a student, leader, composer, educator and arts administrator with strong music expertise and extensive experience in leadership, community engagement and program coordination.
Leadership has always been an important part in Alex’s journey. Alex has strong capability to initiate activities, manage teams, oversee events, and create environments where students can thrive. At Peabody, he serves as the Music Education Program Assistant, Registrar Front Dest Worker, Mailroom Clerk and a Community Fellow on the Peabody Activities Board. He develops program to strengthen student engagement and connection on campus while supports faculty staff and students with logistics and coordination. At his high school in Shanghai, Alex served as the President of the After School Activities Council, Treasurer of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the organizer of various student clubs. In addition, he is the founder of the Shanghai Community Music Festival, an initiative that provides local student musicians in Shanghai with opportunities to perform and collaborate with international school musicians. This high- profile festival has been the attention center of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and many schools.

In addition to the outstanding leadership, Alex is a deeply engaged active composer, conductor and educator. His compositions have been performed in various schools and music festivals. He actively serves as the guest conductor and music educator for Shanghai Gezhi Junior High School.

Through his compositions, teaching, conduction, passion, creativity, leadership, engagement and coordination, Alex seeks to create music and experiences that inspire, connect, and provide a positive long-lasting impact.
