Professional Experiences

Hi, I’m Alex Fan — a composer, conductor, educator, and arts administrator currently pursuing my Bachelor of Music in Composition and Music Education at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. I’m passionate about using music to connect people, foster creativity, and build communities.

My work blends composition, performance, and leadership. At Peabody, I serve as a Music Education Program Assistant, Community Fellow, and member of the Peabody Activities Board, helping create programs that strengthen engagement and connection. Before coming to the U.S., I founded the Shanghai Community Music Festival, which brought together student musicians from across local and international schools.

Through composing, conducting, and teaching, I aim to create experiences that inspire and leave a lasting, positive impact.
